I have to agree with ChrisRLG: any spam that comes through MANDATES a complaint. I include IP and referrer in any responses so I can see who/what posted, and so I can follow up, and every time there is a spam post, send a complaint - don't just delete it. Deleting spam is easier, but it just ends up generating more spam...

I was looking for a new captcha for my CMS and this was a great resource.

I tried out a bunch and was frankly un-impressed by some and then was in disbelief that some cost as much as $30+, ridiculous.

Anyways this one ended up being my favorite:
http://www.hotscripts.com/Detailed/71273.html?RID=N606112

Small, secure, customize, pretty nice all around.

Thank you for this great summary of captcha scripts. I've been looking for such scripts for some time but never found the right one for me. It was time consuming to check all kinda sites, but here, easy to choose which one to get.
Thanks

I think XRumer can spam Wordpress blogs. But, fortunately, the developers limit the database only to forums..

I know why my sites (5 domains) are on this list.

When ever we get a spam 'hit' we ALWAYS report them to thier ISP/hosting company.

They probably lost too many connections by hitting mine :)

It is no good just deleting the spam. Get an IP and follow through with a full complaint to thier ISP.

Yes they may have used a proxy or even used a zombied machine. But in that case the zombied machine owner gets to know about it, so still a job well done.

XRumer only works with old forums. I used to get lot of SPAM every day on my forums (1000's of hosted forums). At last, i have added recaptcha and automated spam almosted stoped. With Wordpress Askimnet spam preventing plugin, it will be very difficult for spam bot to post on wordpress.

<a href="http://www.amirharel.com/2008/03/captcha-is-broken_22.html" rel="nofollow">Amir Harel wrote in his blog</a> an interesting theory about the collective computation that zombies has to their disposal in order to break captchas. If thats true then its only a matter of time until the captcha will be useless.

Something tells me Yahoo! is working on this,It's easy to bypass the captcha once you know the code of it, Yahoo! needs to make a new code without sharing it. and also add alot of new things to it as well.
